What About The Pets

All of Cody’s chickens went
down the road to our neighbors.
We gave them the coop as a
thank you for letting us park
our storage trailer in their
cow pasture.

Sadly, the coop fell apart not long
after moving it there, with our
other neighbor’s tractor.

These same great neighbors
took our two cats, Eli the dad
and his daughter, Fluffy.
Eli loved their barn and
was very happy. But, Fluffy
kept coming back home, a mile away. Our next door neighbor said
she would keep her.
Some people dumped some puppies off on the road, so our neighbors
took them also.

We had so many pets when we owned our house. It was difficult to find them all homes, they had such a place in our heart. But, we knew that we could not bring them along; eight of us in a camper was all that would fit and even that remained to be seen!

So, the long, hard process of relocation began. We wanted them all to have good homes where the animals would be loved and appreciated.

Finding a home for a grown dog was more difficult.

Thankfully, some friends needed a watch dog. BJ

was perfect for that.

He moved to the city and lived

in a fenced in yard. We went to visit him and realized that

our country farm dog had been

“citified”!

He laid there with his manicured toe nails and clean, shiny

coat. The smell of cow poop was gone. He didn’t even get up to see us right away!

He had gotten fat and sassy!

He was very happy there.

Many people chose to travel with pets. I have met many a travelers with small, medium, and large dogs in tow. There are even a few out there that bring their cat. One cat loved to watch the birds from his leash outside the camper.

Some campgrounds charge for pets. Be sure to ask about it. And of course, always clean up the little or big presents the animals leave on the ground. You never know when a family, like ours, is going to come along and not only step in it, but possibly slip, fall, or eat it (Tytus our one year old).

One special treat that we weren’t expecting, is all of the creatures God has brought to us during out travels. Cody loves animals more than anyone in the family. He has been blessed to take care of random bugs and lizards, as well as the cats and dogs people we visit own. We did buy him hermit crabs so he would have some kind of pet.
