We spent a wonderful week with our Grandparents and Paratroopers serving now and during WWII. Our Grandfather, Bill McClure, served in WWII as a 508 82nd Airborne Paratrooper. He jumped in D-Day and Normandy. Every year the 508 Paratroopers have a reunion to get the company back together for a fun time of fellowship, story telling, and reminiscing. We have gone to a few over the years and always had a wonderful time. In October, 2008 we joined in on the reunion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The current 508 paratroopers and their commanding officers put on the reunion and it was all so wonderful. We got to talk to the paratroopers both old and new and learn the real side of things happening over in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of the men who drove us around who put on displays, and served us over the week had been sent to the Middle East before. It was amazing to get to talk to them and get to know them each as an individual. We were so blessed. At the end of the week they put on a banquet for the WWII paratroopers. It was a really wonderful experience for all of us. For More on the Amazing Soldiers we met that week go to our PEOPLE PAGE...
